News UpdatesEmma to represent 'Team GBR' at World Equestrian Games (July 22, 2010)
On the 14th – 16th of July Eddie & I competed at the Para international (CPEDI***) at the Festival of Dressage at Hartpury College, which also acted as the final selection for Team GBR for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, USA. Eddie & I were on the shortlist of ten riders, which seven were to be selected.
There were three riders in my grade [Grade 1a] all hoping for selection – myself & Paralympic Gold Medallists Anne Dunham & Sophie Christiansen.
It was a very exciting week as Anne, Sophie and myself were all so close, over the three days of competition we kept swapping positions with only 1% splitting us – I really couldn’t guess who the selectors would choose out of the three of us!
My results during the week were:
Team test = 73.529% - 3rd place
Individual test = 73.667% - 2nd place
Kur = 76% - joint 1st place with Anne
I was really pleased with Eddie, he went so well all week and seems to get better & better all the time!! – One highlight of my week was earning my first ever ’10’ – amazing!!!
On Friday the wait was over & the WEG team was announced.... & I am pleased to be able to announce that Eddie & I have been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games!! – Unbelievable!!!
Eddie & I will compete as part of a team of seven made up of fellow Grade 1a riders Anne Dunham & Sophie Christiansen as well as nine-times Paralympic Gold medallist Lee Pearson, Ricky Balshaw, Jo Pitt & fellow Lincolnshire rider Sophie Wells.
How Exciting!!!
I would just like to say a big “Thankyou” to all of my team for all their support!! – Special thanks goes to Karen & Nicky, as my success is down to all their hard work & dedication!!!
